OUR STORY

Ever since our founder, Gabriella Truppi, was in High School, she always wanted an ice cream shop. She put those dreams on pause to attend the University of Rhode Island for a semester and a half. When she came home she managed 16 Handles of Flemington and went to Raritan Valley Community College to continue to work towards her degree.
In March of 2019, the idea of an ice cream truck came to fruition. She set plans in motion almost immediately and had the business registered on April 12th, 2019. She could not get funding through any loan or credit line or financing option no matter how hard she tried. Just when things were looking like they were going to end, she scored a deal on Craigslist and found the truck we know and love. From there, things started to fall into place and Scoops On Wheels was born on June 8th, 2019.

We could not be more excited to start our first season after an extremely successful grand opening. Gabbie worked the entire summer booking events and spreading the name as far as she possibly could by herself. She anticipated a very lucrative 2020 with tons of events lined up by the Winter of 2019. Well, we all know how that went. A pandemic hit and she thought the business was going under. Once she accepted the circumstances, she decided to restructure the entire business. Pint deliveries.
She did not expect it to take off like it did, but the community did not disappoint. We delivered as far as Westfield, NJ and Easton, PA. We were able to donate to hospital staff and continue to grow this business. We were able to hire a total of 17 wonderful employees to assist in the absolute chaos that was pint deliveries. This restructure of the business allowed such a huge reach to customers that we are now able to open Humdoo.

Now, a lot of you may be curious about what “Humdoo” means and it is one of Gabbie’s favorite stories. When she was a child, her younger sister started calling ice cream “humdoo”. No one had any idea how she got “humdoo” from ice cream, but it stuck for their entire childhood. When thinking of opening a store, Gabbie felt that Humdoo was the perfect name to embody the values and brand that she strives for the store to bring.
Humdoo opened on June 26, 2021! It was one of our most exciting days and ever since we have been serving ice cream to the community. Our goal is to always serve you with a positive experience and of course, some delicious ice cream! We hope to see you in our shop and that you have the best experience each and every time!
